As a Cypriot, I grew up loving purple kohlrabi, or kouloumbra as we call it. It was quite rare but always a delight to come across a white one. So imagine my surprise to see packets of seeds at the Norton Street Fair recently. The quality of the root was superb! Not only succulent, but sweet to boot. For an interesting but simple mezze dish, which is the way I eat them, just slice them into matchsticks or 5mm rounds and dress with lemon and salt. The white kohlrabi doesn't even need that. I'm sure there are many uses for this root, but I love them too much to play around with. Thanks Mr Italian Gardener Man. And my many relatives thank you too.
