Sow in a seed box and plant out or direct sow in autumn for full size plants, but can be planted anytime for picking young. Thin to 10cm. This is easy to grow and very consistent in producing a nice head

We're in Berrima, Southern Highlands, NSW. We grow this variety in our flourishing school garden at Berrima Public School. Not particularly poular with children, owing to bitter flavour, as with all radicchio. But for the mature pallet, a real pleasure. Can't believe how beautiful it looks fully grown either - truly like a flower. Easy to grow.

Took a while to grow to its full beauty - the colour only developed as it matured into a good head. Once grown, the taste was terrific; milder than some radicchios and excellent teamed with mizuna. Looks gorgeous in a salad bowl with a bit of olive oil and balsamic!
