PUMPKIN/SQUASH/ZUCCHINI
Pumkin, squash and zucchini are members of the same family and are attractive and productive plants. Zucchini varieties range widely in form and colour, unlike their supermarket cousins, and should be picked when the fruits are small (12-15cm), often with flowers still attached. They are hugely popular around the Mediterranean where they are eaten in abundance through the summer months. Pumpkins and squash belong to the same family, with summer squash eaten fresh, and pumpkins (winter squash) matured on the vine to develop the characteristic tough skin that protects the interior flesh and seeds for winter storage.
