We use Australia Post for deliveries and our charges are based on the cost of shipping plus a small additional amount for packaging and handling. You can chose between Regular and Express Mailing at the checkout. As Australia Post charges keep on rising, we must pass on these increases. Postage charges are based on the number of seed packets or weight for other items. The cost for Regular Mail of normal sized seed packets is as follows: Up to 5 packets $4.20, 6-30 packets Small Satchel, 30-100 packets Medium Satchel, 100+ packets at cost, and for Express Mail is : Up to 30 packets Small Satchel, 30-100 packets Medium Satchel, 100+ packets at cost. For purchases in excess of $250 there is no charge for delivery.
Orders from outside Australia are sent by registered mail and the cost is determined by location and is indicated at the checkout. The Italian Gardener can accept no responsibility for issues regarding quarantine or customs and those ordering from outside Australia are strongly advised to investigate if vegetable seed can be imported into their country.
Although we can ship to virtually any address in the world but there are Franchi Sementi agents in many countries. For further information click here.
Note that there are quarantine or customs restrictions on the import of seeds to most countries and within Australia. For the Australian States and Territories any restrictions are noted on the product description page, but for shipping to destinations outside Australia, the responsibility for checking that seeds can be imported rests solely with the customer and The Italian Gardener does not accept any liability for orders that are denied entry.
WA Quarantine Procedures.
From June 1st 2013 The Department of Agriculture and Food (WA) will charge customers $56 per 15 minutes for the inspection of seed being sent into the State. As the seed I import from Italy goes through the Federal Quarantine processes this is totally unnecessary but is still a condition of entry.
I have enterered into an agreement with DAF for The Italian Gardener to pay for the inspection of seed orders in groups to minimise the cost to customers. A $3.00 surcharge will be added to each WA order to assist in defraying the costs. This will be conducted on a trial basis to evaluate the feasibility of this approach.
