Winter giant is large with a long stem. Sow close together in a deep pot Aug-Sept. This will produce long seedlings that can be dropped into deep holes 100mm apart in late spring. Let the rain or irrigation back fill the holes. Leeks can be hilled as they grow for exta long white stems.
